Approach

This Cat A refurbishment project saw everything from plasterboard, flooring tiles, glass, timber and metal being recycled or repurposed rather than traditionally being sent to landfill. We worked in partnership with Tarkett, an approved flooring recycling and manufacturing company, and we ensured 100% of all flooring tiles we remove from the fit-out project are being recycled and repurposed for use in the future.

The sustainability factor isn’t only focussed on the items being stripped out of the building, we also introduced new flooring products which are made from 93% recycled materials and the introduction of ultra-LED lighting which uses 60% less power than traditional halogen or incandescent bulbs. The ultra-LED lights have a 3.5x the lifetime of traditional lighting, making them cost effective and increasing light outputs.

The Impact it’s made

This project was hugely important to us, and we haven’t passed on any noticeable costs to our client by introducing these additional sustainability measures. It has given us a blue print to use with future clients, helping them to address their sustainability targets. We have since been appointed on several further schemes.
